Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect during my first therapy session?

In your first therapy session we spend time discussing the issue or issues that you want to focus on in your therapy, gathering information about your personal background and history, setting, and develop concrete therapeutic goals.

Finally, any administrative requirements, filling out and reviewing your consent to treatment form and any additional forms such as insurance that you may need are completed. Future therapy sessions focus on achieving your therapeutic goals and helping you find your personal balance.

How long is a therapy session?

Therapy sessions typically take 60 minutes per session.

Do you offer online web counselling services?

Yes. I do offer secure video counselling sessions.

Sometimes the weather or other issues come up that make it difficult to meet in person, which is where a secure video session can help ensure that you are able to keep your appointment and get the help you need.

Is it possible to receive counselling services by telephone?

Yes. I do offer counselling services by telephone to clients that have attended in-person or secure video counselling sessions.

What is your fee per therapy session and does insurance cover it?

Please contact me regarding my fee structure and any questions you may have regarding insurance coverage. A receipt is issued for every session, which can be used for insurance purposes or to claim as a medical expense for tax purposes.

Some extended health insurance or employer group benefits provide some coverage for either therapeutic or counselling services. For specific details about insurance coverage check with your insurance provider and bring any insurance forms you need filled out with you.

Is there a fee for therapeutic letters?

Yes, there is a fee for any therapeutic letters written on your behalf.

Everything shared and discussed in your therapy session will be kept confidential except for when there are specific legal, ethical limits, or medical treatment needs as outlined by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
